Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed taxis at the arrivals curb quote inflated flat rates instead of using the meter. Insist on using the official taxi dispatcher desk inside the terminal to get a metered cab or pre-book through the airport's approved ride partners.
Baggage porters wearing unofficial tags grab bags from the carousel and demand high handling fees. Keep your trolley and politely refuse assistance unless the porter shows the airport-issued badge and you agree on a small tip first.
Currency-exchange kiosks just outside customs advertise 'no commission' but give poor rates and may quietly tack on service charges. Compare the displayed rate with the mid-market rate on your phone and use the bank counter inside departures or withdraw East Caribbean dollars from an ATM instead.
